Firecracker Flip Flops

Since the Fourth Of July is fast approaching, and the theme over at the CSI project this week is red, white and blue, I thought I'd post one of my favorite projects- Firecracker Flip Flops. For this project you will need:

1 pair flip flops ( I usually get mine at Old Navy),
Pinking scissors,
A ruler,
A sixth of a yard of three different fabrics- for this project I used red, white and blue

Step 1: Using pinking sheers, cut each color of your fabric into 6 x 1 inch strips. These don't have to be perfectly measured or straight. If the strips are a little wider or longer, it doesn't make much of a difference.
Step 2: Once you have a pile of all strips in each color, begin tying them around the strap of the flip flop, using a simple knot (you might have to play around with it a little to if you want the right side of the fabric facing up).
Step 3: Continue tying the strips along the strap of each flip flop. You can either follow a pattern (AB, ABBA, ABC, etc.) or tie the strips on randomly.
Step4: Once both you've finished covered both flip flop straps, paint your toe nails fire engine red, slip on your new shoes and celebrate our great country!!

Happy Fourth Of July Everyone!

PS- As you can see, I just started this blog, so any comments, thoughts or questions would be MUCH appreciated! Thanx!
